I appreciate your guys' opinions on this. I believe these headlights convert to a sealed beam housing, enabling me to use different bulbs, rather than buying the whole headlight enclosure with non removable bulb. I don't think this is a bad deal for 30 bucks with free shipping, so I've decided to give it a try. I don't think I'll have a problem with the police because they will pull you over for just about anything around here anyhow. They don't seem to bother me when I drive the RX7, even though it's loud and all. I guess it's the respect you can get for owning an older car.

The reflectors might be okay... still, just get a premium halogen bulb instead of ultra-white... and for the love of all that's holy, make sure they're aimed right...

First off I gotta say this is a gr8 forum for 1st gen rx7 owners. This is my first post so plz be nice

Anyways i have problem and i was hoping someone on this forum could help me out.

I recently got these same headlights. i was eagerly ready to put them on and see if i noticed a difference between them and my stock ones. Well i have, but that doesn't mean it was better...

The light output is actually weaker than my old stock headlights. (The lights are whiter, but i can only see close distances and not farther away)
THis could due to a # of factors, however, i noticed that the only way my bulbs can go in to the headlight is if the headlight is reversed. For ex) the "hole" where the optional bulb could go in is around the 12 o clock (top) postion rather than where it suppose to be (arround the 6 oclock position) (below the H4 bulb)

The mechanic that i took the lights to thinks that headlight itself (not the bulb) could be defective, just thought i get a 2nd opinion from any of u that has these lights on ur rx7.

Thanks in advance for your tips/suggestions

Here's some links to the pics hope they work

It looks like the headlights are upside down to me. As I understand it the citylight (the optional yellow parking light) should be at the bottom of the reflector.

This could explain why the light output is so weak. The light patern would be reversed so you'd have a lot of light pointing upward, and almost none pointing at the road.

Park it in front of a wall and look at the projected beam patern.
If there is a lot of light higher up on the wall, you have your answer. If not, than the headlights just plain suck.

Either way, try contacting Dan Stern

Better than stock, definitely not the best.

This is probably a question for Daniel, but at least originally, the Silverstars sold in North America are not the same as the Silverstars sold in the rest of the world. Osram/Sylvania make two different bulbs, both called "Silverstar."

From the Sylvania web site:
3. What’s the difference between European and North American SilverStar? The Sylvania North American SilverStar bulbs have a high tech amethyst blue coating to help give the whiter light appearance. The European SilverStar does not have a coating for the whiter light, making it more like the SYLVANIA (US) XtraVision product line. Both bulbs offer greater luminance (increased brightness).http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/HighPerformance/Silverstar/FrequentlyAskedQuestions/?FILTERNAME=%40URL\&FILTERVALUE=www%2Esylvania%2Ec om
Any blue coating or tint will reduce light output. According to Sylvania's North American products comparison, the Xtravision has the same brightness, but without the coating. It's also cheaper. Hmm...

Seems yours are rightway up, with the citylight on the bottom of the reflector...
UH85rx7 has his with the citylight at the top...

Now a question... and I mean this is the nicest possible way...

Why the HECK do you have BLUE lights in for the citylights?!?!

The ebay versions have the blue bulbs in for the city lights. I have them and am very pleased with them. Mine also were a pain to get in correctly, especially in one side but I just pushed real hard and it finally squeezed in there. The light output is by far greater than my old stock type ones.

thanks for the help guys

So if my headlights are upside down, is there any way to fix them? Will a different bulb work? The reason why I ask is because it seems to me that there's only 1 way that bulb can go into the headlight and that is the way i have it in now. Any other way it just doesn't go in. Any suggestions? DO i hav to push harder ?

ALso those cibie lights look nice, alittle on the high end though.

I don't know which site you are looking at but the shipping is not free. I just went to that site you posted and my shipping charge alone is $20.00.

But WTF is the point of the blue citylights? The yellow normal ones are nice for driving in fog, and are nice and low glare...

What good are blue lights...?!?!

the blue lights are to give it a cool ricer look, they serve no real purpose

but they can get ya in trouble, because only emergency vehicals are supose to have blue lights, same thing goes for the led windsheild squirters

what he said.

BTW the Bosch H4 kits will give you the replacement reflectors and convert your lights to replaceable H4 bulbs (rather than sealed beam units, which are the ones with the filament built into the reflector unit - hence the 'sealed' part) without the condensation problems of some of the lower quality kits.

Steer clear of any bulbs with blue tint as that's a) a bulb with less actual output (even though they give off more glare to oncoming drivers) and b) they give a cop one more thing to ticket you for when s/he's in a bad mood.

Also I purchased these on Ebay and in the title it was supposed to be "angel eye" headlights, so apparently the blue light is supposed to help with that somehow. I highly doubt it as I have seen real "angel" or "halo" headlights. I never hooked them up, and dont plan to so you will have to find out for yourself on that one.

http://www.costore.com/performancesh...=34&pid=237401

If pcp customer service doesn't get back to me soon, I'm thinkin i'm goina go with these lights instead. Not as bright but still better than stock ones.
