thermostatic fan switch
Those of you running electric fans with a thermostatic switch to turn it on/off.. what type of switch are you using and exactly how is yours hooked up?
I just tried the Perma-cool that uses a probe you stick in the radiator fins, but I'm sending it back because the POS wouldn't ever turn on, even on the lowest temp setting. Now I've got a Flexalite coming with a sensor you stick in the upper radiator hose... anyone got that one?
What temp do you all have yours set to turn on at?
If you use the threaded sensor kind, where do you thread it in at?

I'm using one with the sensor located in the upper radiator hose and it works perfectly.
The temp that you set it to come in (assuming you have an accurate guage) will depend on your thermostat rating. I've only got the crappy stock guage so I set the fans to come in just above normal highway cruising temp.

RevHed, did you silicone around the wire protruding from the radiator hose, or just crank down the hose clamp really tight? (or both?)
