my new car was stripped of all its badges, etc.
and i was wondering if there were any subtle interior, ext, etc. clues that would point to a certain model...

I know alot of times the S (base line) didnt have power mirrors, hatch pop, and maybe a couple other things like cloth interior, etc. The GS I think had some power stuff, cruise was an option, etc. It kinda depends on year though for cruise and stuff.

What year is it. What type of engine(12a or 13b) . Once we know the year we can tell you more. Also does it have a LSD rear end

Disc brakes in back will determine if its LSD,unless someone has installed an LSD pumpkin in a drum housing.

Disc and LSD out back means its a GSL,which means you should also have power windows, cruise control, power mirrors and AC.

If you just have power mirrors, sunroof and AC,then its likely a GS.

If you have nothing power at all, then its an S model.

Power anything? Hatch pop with a button or do you have to get out and key it? Werd to the disc brakes or not question...

some gs's have sunroofs, my project car is a gs and has a sunroof, it was an option, it came standard on GSL's.
As for his original question, if its got rear disks and power windows you know its a GSL, otherwise its most likely a GS, S's are quite rare (almost as much so as SE's from what I've read), other than my 83 S I've only seen a few people that have them.
