Are there any other fan clutches that will work other thann OEM?

hi
i really need some help.
i have been doing searches on here all morning about fan clutches. My fans with no resistance at all.
and if i get stopped in traffic long at all the temp starts to rise.
does anyone know if there is another fan clutch that will work for my 85 GS.. 12a ..I know that Summitt sells some thermal ones but i'm not sure if they will work.
just wondering if you guys knew.

I recommend that you remove the stock clutch fan and get an electric fan with a temp sensor mounted on the radiator.

Yes there are many kinds of fans. me,, i installed a 17'
semi flex fan made by hayden, around $ 30.00 dollors
the same co. also sells a fan clutch for the flex fans.
the oem fan and clutch are heavy, real heavy ,,but i don't use a clutch on my fan,i also added some redline
"waterwetter" it breakes the surface tension of the fluid
for better cooling, my car runs 1/4 on the temp guage
and stays there. for an oem fan, your gonna need an oem clutch. an electric fan is good too,,,IMO

Why the hell would you recommend that???

I am making 500+ to the back wheels and I have the standard radiator and clutch fan/shroud and have NEVER had any overheating problems.

Leave it STANDARD!!

Because at 500+ HP, you don't have to worry about any parasitic drag from the stock fan when the fan clutch is engaged.

Besides, electric fans are cool

Get it? Huh? Cool. as in cooling the car, but also..

nevermind.

thanks for your advise
i would like to keep a regular fan and clutch. As my stereo system draws enough off the battery and alternator.
i'm going to look into those flex fans w/ the clutch.
and that redline water wetter
thanks again

I had an overheating problem with my car, due to a poor functioning fan clutch. To fix it, I took the fan clutch out and repaired it and then re-installed it. Works great! It doesn't run flat out all the time and cools the car up to 1/3 of the gauge. However, I'd recommend that you get an electric fan.

No but they should, its a hell of a lot of fun. Not that mine is 500, but Id say it will be around 300+

Back to the thread, my vote is for a electric fan, but if you need a new stock fan , I got 2 of them somewhere... Pay $5 + shipping and its yours...
