I hope you have small kids! I know people put the rear seats from FC's in their cars, you should search for that...
Im not being mean, i just dont personally know much about it, but i do know that there is a write up on the forum. A lot of the threads you've been starting could of been easily searched, too.
Keep on Keepin' on!

The original seat would not be difficult to duplicate. The bottom is literally a chunk of foam covered in upholstery. The seat back is also simply a rectangle covered in foam and upholstery. The hardware for the seat back that allows it to pivot up and down and latch into place is similiar to thatfound on countless other cars. With some basic skills anyone could make a rear seat, and have it covered at any decent upholstery shop.

Just a quick question on this subject....
Are all first gens in the usa sold without a back seat?
Because i live in europe and here it's the other way around and it's hard to find a first gen which has no back seat.
ANd if you find one, i hope you have (very) small kids because even my dog (german sheppard) really doesn't like it back there

Rhesus monkeys would be quite comfortable. (However my BMW E31 actually had less headroom in back.) One medium-size person can sit in the back seat with his feet on the other side, and ride without too much discomfort. I used to carry two small (5'2" -5"4") females in back at the same time, and they didn't complain too much. Of course the front seats must be moved forward, which makes more cramped up front.
My previous message was a bit misleading. The seat bottom is essentially a chunk of foam, but it is contoured to fit. I can take photos if anyone wants to make one.
Aside from passengers, the back seat was useful for keeping bags of groceries from spilling over and rolling around.

I'm not sure but I remember seeing something about it costing more in the JDM market for a strictly two seat car, so they stuffed in back seats. Also, I think to comply with US crash standards they added some bracing in this area for US cars. That combined with wanting to image it as more of a sporting model in America, made a factory 2 + 2 for the N/A market unfeasable.

here is a photo with a S3 rear sear in a s1, like previously said a car seat would be a tricky deal, but with a 5' wife my youngest who's 9 fits fine behind her
But you'll have to adress things such as the carpet the front seat belt having a cover etc etc
