Thanks RX7 Fans! You guys rock!

Hey guys, i posted for the first time some weeks ago about my 12A '82 which had problems with the clutch and thanks very much to the kind people that spent their precious time to help me out. I recently had the clutch master and slave both replaced. I also have had a lot of other work done including;

New Wiper control arm
New Pedal Covers
Secure Spare
Replace castor and swaybar bushes
New Front brake hoses
New Tie Rod end boots
New Front Shock absorbers
Oil Filter
Cooler lines

Took quite some time all up but now its all done and since most of it got done professionally im a fair bit out of pocket... its unfortunate but a fact of life i guess.

Now i have a few more things that i want to get done. I've been quoted on the parts and work which is pointless mentioning here because im in australia and all our RX7 stuff costs a lot more than you guys in the U.S. BUT what i'd like is some basic feedback on what things to be watchful for or what things NOT to do when getting involved with some of the modifications i am going to make over the next 3 or 4 months time (money permitting).

Power steering from a series 3 installed.
New Door Rubber seals.
Stereo system with amplifier

if you guys have got any hints and tips that'd be great! Have a good one and thanks for the previous help, i'll have some photos up here soon hopefully so you can all look at my lovely series 2 which really is in great shape body wise and now motor wise too.

thanks heaps once again...

your aussie pal...

If I remember my Aussie slang you are saying that you are alittle skint(SP).

Well most forum members prefer the feel of manual steering. I don't believe adding it will do much for you unless you just like the feel of P/S.
If you do it, you will need the following components.
P/s gear box, usually from a Gsl-Se unless you can find one of a Gsl that was optioned.
Power steering hoses
Pump and appropriate mounting bracketry.
P/S belt.
I'm not sure if it is necessary to swap out the complete steering column or not.
Someone else may chime in or you might wind up doing a search.
In the past alot of guys were putting on the rack and pinion set ups but I don't remember if they were going Power or not.
Again, personally I would not add it. The money could be used for other upgrades. But that's just my opinion.
New door seals is something that I would do. I don't know where you source your parts from but blackdragon.com sells them and you also see them on ebay all the time.
Stereo and Amp, not into Stereos.
I would make sure all the basic maintenance items have been addressed along with all safety issues.
And you can save abit of cash by doing this stuff yourself.
Basic handtools and the help of this forum is all that is needed.
Good day Mate.

Gday mate, thanks heaps for the tips.

I think i WILL hold off on the power steering for quite some time because YES i am quite skint.. hehe...

what i will be doing though will be adding a basic car alarm system which also comes with remote keyless entry which will be a nice little bonus to have on such an old vehicle... but i really want to protect my RX7 which is my pride and joy and will be staying close to me for at least the next 3 years whilst i complete my degree and grad year.

i found a great stereo its only $100 and does exactly what i want which is play MP3's off a CD... so thats actually all i'll need, i'll go without the amp for now because its really jsut a bit of overkill.

Door seals are coming ASAP, i just need to source them from somewhere good, i'll check the site you mentioned...

I also just purchased some black touch up paint for around the front window because its been flaking off from the original job some 5 years ago. I'll make sure to do that BEFORE i go sticking any pictures up. I think you guys will like my RX7, its pretty nice but not sure if you guys will appreciate the color more on that later.

safety issues have already had a touch up including the steering arm which needed replacing amongst other things.

thanks for the help thus far.

Matt

it means: having no money; penniless.

I didn't know that. I spent 2 months on Holiday there way before you were born

GoT(Matt),
Glad to help. Sounds like you have a good plan mapped out.

I have to admit that some of the slang caught me by surprise.
When a guy came up to me and said "Hey mate, can you spare a ***", I just looked at him cross-eyed.
