If you quit drinking Mr. Pibb, I'd have interest.

Mr. Pibb > Dr. Pepper, just saying just like Red Cream Soda > Big Red.

Everyone here says he will make everything right. I'm not angry I just feel mislead but let me not complain too much. I know how much the forum likes to back him up. I wonder what would happen if any other forum member would've pulled the same stunt? Not fair. Anyways, I would gladly pony up cash and a carburetor as long as he has a reasonable turn around

I figured as much. Before I go into too much detail I need to get setup as a vendor on this forum.

It seems like there is enough interest to at least do a limited run of them and see how much demand there is afterwards. I am sourcing the machining equipment to do proper, retail grade, modifications to sell you guys. Once I am ready I will list a couple of modification packages detailing what will be done so you know what your paying for. This will probably entail a level 1 stripped down and rebuilt nikki, a level 2 lightly modded, and level 3 extreme. I just haven't decided what mods will be included in each package.

I'm also doing some flow bench testing to give you all quantifiable data so you know what you'll be paying for.

Thank you all for your input, please keep it coming. Let me know what your looking for in turn around time, boost prep mods, etc...

Out of respect for my fellow modifiers and racers, I would rather not turn this thread into a Sterling bashing session. I'm sure emotions run a little high from your experience with them, but I only hope to fill a clear void in Nikki modding.

Interested and relatively local. After sitting for about ten years I am sure the 79 is going to need some work.

I have a core I could send down if you end up going forward with this. Send me a PM if you would like.

**Update**

OK, I am in the process of contacting the powers that be for vendor status. I should have modification package information and details after this weekend. The pricing will be very comparable to Sterling's.

I will need to get a minimum order with deposits paid to move forward with this and will be looking to start that in a couple of weeks. In the mean time I am trying to get the flow bench together to post up actual data on the modifications. Don't worry I won't be asking for 100% payment up front, just a deposit (I will detail that once I get vendor status). The rest of the payment will be due once your carb. is ready to be shipped back to you.

All said and done we should be up and running in a couple short weeks.

OK, should be ready to start taking orders next week or so.

To answer some of your questions and without going into painful details, the "SR" Nikki modifications basically include:

1. Air flow modification to the main body, throttle body, and air horn for optimal flow
2. Emissions removal
3. Choke removal
4. Modification to the accelerator pump system for more fuel delivery
5. Modification to the secondary pump for earlier kick-in
6. All new gaskets
7. Media blasting
8. Custom Paint (optional)
9. Fuel "in" line -AN adaptation (optional)

Out of curiosity (since I don't think it was mentioned yet in this thread, other than comparing to Sterling's prices that I am unfamiliar with), how much would this cost?

For the full blown "SR" Nikki it's $500.

Rebuild only: $250

Stripped Nikki : $350

IT Legal Nikki: $400

You can go to www.srraceengineering.com for details of what each package entails. The website is VERY basic and something we just threw up to get us started.

What airflow modifications are you doing? I'm interested to know what you are doing to the booster venturis, venturis, and throttle shafts. Will you be modifying those at all or leaving them stock?

Air horn is heavily modified, the venturi's get profiled down, the OMP supply tubes get cut back, The booster venturi's get knife edged, and the main body gets "matched" to the air horn (similar to port matching or gasket matching).

I don't think the throttle plate shafts are worth modifying since they become so delicate. But if you guys want I can provide that as well at no extra charge. Just request it when ordering the package you want and know this will be at your own risk.

Quick question. I have a birthday coming up soon and my girlfriend is thinking of getting me a new carburetor, but instead I may just go this route. I am wondering an estimate about how long it may take knowing that you are just starting out and if you have many orders, it may take some time. Also are the prices above including the carburetor or do we have to have one shipped in?

I actually just dropped the prices a little to try and keep them more cost effective. You can go to http://srraceengineering.webs.com/apps/webstore/ to see the updated pricing and order directly from the site through paypal. These are carb. modification services only, I am working on obtaining some cores to cut down on the down time but for now I need your carb. to modify and send it back. The turn around time right now is estimated around 3 weeks.

The website is still evolving and I plan to do much better write-ups on the carb. packages and theory behind the modifications.
