Testing Waters: Nikki carb. modding services?

Some of you saw my earlier thread of my freshly rebuilt and painted modded Nikki. I was thinking since Sterling is no longer doing them... how much demand would there be for another modding service? You could send us yours, or we could source one, strip it down and modify it for your application. Not sure about price range yet either, just trying to feel out demand. Thoughts?

Pictures of mine for reference (it's a frankenstein of all 3 Nikki models)

I think we can get in the same pricing

Oneiros 08-14-11 10:54 AM

i would say there is a lot of demand, i do the same thing in australia

bahlorm 08-14-11 06:44 PM

I would pay you to do the same to mine, or really just plain out fix it lol. I am having a hell of a time with my nikki carb. I also tried to follow the guide they had and I did a little bit of it but most of it was out of my league. I would pay to have it rebuilt and modded the right way. If you decide to do that then send me a message let me know a price. If I can afford it you bet that I will be a new client lol.

r u able to perform the boost prep mods?

mazda6guy 08-14-11 08:08 PM

I have one sitting on the shelf waiting to be modded! I procrastinated with Sterling and regret it because he no longer mod them but if you do them then I would be one of your first customer.

bahlorm 08-14-11 08:16 PM

There are 3 customers already!

Id be interested to^^

Well this answers my question. Give me a few days to setup a pricing structure and "models" for you guys similar to Sterling's. I will throw up another post about it to start taking orders. Thanks for everyone's feedback!! :icon_tup:

Good luck! Hope you do well. If you want to have a chat about mods hit me up, I've been doing it for about a year and might be able to share something useful. :)

Great thanks! I will definitely do that.

Hell yeah I can't wait to see what you plan to do. I have been wanting a sterling since I got this car but since they don't do it anymore it is kind of difficult. But this may be just as good if not even better.

CobraStngSVT 08-15-11 03:08 PM

Thank you for your replies, I am a little reluctant to compare ours to Sterling's. Theirs were amazing however ours has been developed by our team over years of SCCA racing. It's my hope that we can offer a product on the same level if not better. I just don't want to step on Sterling's toes by trying to advertise the same exact product.

I'm in the process of trying to figure how to launch this and get all the appropriate machines to semi-mass produce them. Please bear with me while we try and develop something for mass production.

Maybe doing & publishing a before/after dyno test on the same car & carb would stir up a lot of interest, too?

Nothing advertises like documented gains.

retodd1000 08-15-11 05:34 PM

I'm absolutely interested in having a carb fixed up.

clubber 08-15-11 06:42 PM

I'd definately be interested. I'm quite sure sterling will never send mine back but I bought another one.

Mr_Miles 08-16-11 02:59 AM

got my attention! i may send one to you in the future if you get this started.

Yea your right. The plan right now is to build a flow bench and quantify our results. Then dyno results to a lucky person in the south florida area.

I am going to lock this thread for now, as I need to confirm if the OP needs Vendor status first.

Directfreak 08-17-11 09:53 AM

Thread re-opened.

IF you start offering services publicly on this forum, you
WILL need Vendor status.
