Tension rod geometry
Redoing bushings and other rubber things on front suspension this week and reading up b4hand. The haynes manual says to make sure I reattach the tension rods with the same measurements that it had before I took it apart to maintain proper geometry. What do yall think? I measured them and the drivers side is a different length than the pass. side. Should these be the same length?
Well, if they are used for alignment of the front end then I suppose that they would be different lengths. Then again, who knows what's been hit over the last twenty years.
I would probably just replace everything, then take it to a reputable shop for a good alignment job (which you will most likely need anyway)....
How far off are they anyway? Just curious, because this is next on my list as well.

Less than 2cm. I'm gonna get it aligned after cause I'm undoing everything, idler, toe arms, new ball joints, everything must go! I don't think they are alignment related, so much as providing stability w/sway bar. I don't know though.
Common to have more caster on one side, to help counteract "the crown of the road". road crown is how the road curves down towards the gutter, so water will run off the road.
Put them both back in same length, then drive to alignment shop to be sure.
