OK, I found the wire, but the unit seems to be hiding from me. Anyone have a good pic of where it's supposed to be?

That is actually about the normal reading on properly operating cooling system. If the gauge ever starts to get near the 3/4 range, it's too hot for comfort.

That is where mine sits at on the drive home. Cooler day makes it cooler of course. I'm thinking of just redoing the cooling system, raidator, hoses, therm, and maybe the water pump, it seems to be ok though. Someone told me that the PH and coolant was fine so i'm sure something is clogged somewhere or just not enough flow. I should prob get a better oil cooler while i'm at it instead of the beehive.

Ditching the beehive made a big difference in the temp gauge on my '83. That setup really sucks, as it runs hot water thru the oil (heater) cooler, then dumps it into the lower radiator hose, to re-enter the engine without making a trip thru the radiator........

Well, after 4 hours and a new set of easy-outs, I finally got the old one out. I installed a new sending unit and it works great. Thanks for all of your help.
