Tell me how bad I screwed up
Due to lack of sleep, stupidity and color blindness... I managed to put a battery in backwards in my 83 gs. As soon as I hooked the terminals up smoke starts coming from this little box on the strut tower. I dont have a pic, but its a small black rectangular box with 2 or 3 wires coming in, and on the back there are 3 wires which loop back in the the box.
I know the battery is good, as I put it back in the car I took it out of and it worked fine. But once I did hook it up correctly in the 7, no dash lights or anything came on when I turned the key on, its like there is no battery in there at all.
So I'm hoping all I did was fry this little box thing... whatever it's called. All fuses under the dash were fine... so I dont know what else it could be. Any ideas?

seen that before. fixed a friends by changing those wires that loop back. those wires are acting like fuses. you can get them at a junk yard but test them with an ohm meter before you buy them.

Now would be a perfect time to change them.
Use some circuit breakers or buy some big fuses that are made for car audio installation and put them in their place.
Often times when your break lights fade and other weird electrical things happen like brake light comming on for no reason and such, thats usally the culprit.
Consider it a calling and change them out to somthing better while you still have a really good reason to.
