Question Taillight Removal ---> ???

How do you remove the taillights? Obviously from inside somewhere, but I can't find any bolts or clips or anything.

---Oh yeah... my car's an '85 gsl-se if that helps.

Never mind, forget that question. It was quite stupid indeed. Next question...

What the heck is that bag thing next to the rear left taillight, inside the car?

What the heck is that bag thing next to the rear left taillight, inside the car? I have no idea, but a guess is coolant of some kind????

Either way, the bag is empty, so is that a good thing?

That bag holds washer fluid for the rear window washer/wiper system. No, it's not a good thing if it's empty. The pump is located in the bag as well, and if you try to turn it on when it's empty, you'll burn the pump out! People w/pre '84s have to be careful and watch the rear window while getting hummers, I burned mine out that way before getting my '85...

It's really simple dude.... there's some bolts holding em in on the inside. Only problem is, it's really freakin hard to fit a wrench in there to get to the bolt in the back corner of the car. A socket would work fine. Hehe... I didn't finish cuz this damn rain here in pa just started again. yyyeah

A replace ment OE antena is way way exspensive. Like $350 (if you can find one). I replaced mine with a $75 replacement power antena from Canadian Tire ( Radio Shack should have something simalar). It needs to be re-wired a bit differently. The OE antena uses a relay under the dash very weird wireing. I wired the aftermaket unit to the ignition, so it the car is on the antena is up, if the car is off, the antena is down.

It is a nice fit and works well. I am goning to warn you that you need to remove the tail light and most of the work is done through the tail light hole.

Any way I hope this helps

Good luck

Matt

Autozone and soem Advance auto parts carry a Metra MX-22 fully auto ant for like $40... Its a universal with 5 different heads, works great... Or if your lucky enough to find a Hirschman ant, it will pick up like nothing you ever seen, thats if you listen to radio that is.

I got a $4 RadioShack antenna, simple black 12" rubber wip antenna, looks good on the car, and works.

hehe,

Since I have that crazy wing on back, the antenna was just removed from the car. I found the wire on the inside, and just did it up ghetto, by splicing in an old "rabbit ears" or whatever you call it, antenna from a TV. It lays underneath the carpet. Now, there's no mast to break off, and I have no problem with reception......and it was free.

My antenna I think is supposed to come up when the car starts. Well it doesn't but I don't really care because everything on the radio sucks anyway...(no greenday) Radio works when I pull the antenna up so I guess the motors just dead. i think the car looks better with it down anyway.

AAH! I hate this rain! Can't finish workin on my talilights. wooohooo

Hey... does anyone know how to take APART the tailights once they're off? I can't figure it out because I'm afraid they'll crack if I pry them or something.
