Tail Light Peice

I am looking for the peice that goes inbetween the tail lights of an 81-85 rx-7. I have seen this peice where it is the red plastic like a tail light and it says rx-7. Does anyone have this or know where to get it?

A company called Pacific used to sell those - they also had them in "Mazda RX-7" in stylized text and then just 'RX-7' as seen in your sample photo, below:

These look pretty nice, but they don't really match the black edges of the standard taillights on the 81-85 RX-7, IMO. I actually prefer the stock part that is the ridged black plastic which matches the taillight details very closely. I've noticed that when this center panel gets older, it tends to warp, which is one reason why some folks go looking for the harder to find center panel that you've described.

My understanding was also that these were lit from the back using some combination of wiring to allow it to be illuminated with parking lights or some other means. I have not seen one of these in person, and have not seen one on the 'net for sale in years.

Good lord... 187 dollars for a piece of plastic that can be fabricated by any fool. I thought Mazdatrix was really good at pricing things, too.

I know someone who has one, that may be willing to part with it. How much do you wanna spend? I'll let him know and get back to you.
