I'm putting a 13B PP in my 1st gen and therefore would like a tach that goes to ~10k. I've had a look around at some aftermarket tachs, but they all look really cheesy and I much prefer the original yellow on black style. I've read that in the past, people have scratched the old numbers off the tach face and had new ones put on that display the rev range they want, similar to the photo below. I'm planning on having the same done by a gauge restoration company.
Obviously this requires the tach to be recalibrated to read correctly in the new range, so does anyone know how to do this? (Yes, I know the tach can be quite inaccurate, this is just a weekend car, only need a general idea of where the revs are)
Perfect, thank you! You don't happen to know the sort of values I should be shooting for, or is it more of a trial and error thing?
I used a digital timing light to verify the functioning of my tachometer. No clue if it's a good way of doing it. Hopefully someone more educated can chime in soon.
