At least get the life alert on it. "Help, I've blown a seal and I can't get up"

you need to make sure the key part isnt too thick or too long for the ignition cylinder. find someone with a mazda flip out key and compare the size and length of the key to your key and go from there.

I have a switchblade key for my Volkswagen, but honestly I would prefer a normal key. That big *** think is so annoying to carry in my pocket at work and such that its ridiculous. I couldn't see wanting one for my first gen at all, but good luck in trying to get Mazda to make you one.

If you or a locksmith you know of want to try, you could do what I did. Buy the switchblade key/fob. Remove the blank that comes with it (since it more than likely won't be for your year RX-7) and have them cut a copy of your key (so you don't mess up your original in the event of a mishap). Then measure the distance that sticks out of your ignition with the key in it, and cut the copied key at some point there-after or just grind the key "roundness" off of it (whatever you do, make sure you have enough to secure it to your new switchblade), then reinsert your new copy/cut key into the switchblade. You now have a switchblade key =) Hope it works out for ya!
