suspension questions (and a seat question)

hi guys, ive been searhcing around the forums for suspension options for my rx7. i guess right off the bat, are these the right struts for the front? they are for the toyota mr2 mk1 rear. which is what i need from what i gather

https://www.andysautosport.com/produ...o__BZ1086.html

secondly, what can i get for the rear that has some basic adjustablity as these? i know foxbody style shocks for the rear work on car, what year. all of them?

next, what springs should i get for my car? im considering the srping kit from racing beat, will these work with these work with different shocks/struts? does lowering your car harm the shocks/struts?

lastly, im going to be in the market for a new seat, im planning on attending actual autocross events next year and im going to need a seat that is lower than my current seat, my head is about half an inch from hitting the cealing of the car and once i put a helmet on its going to be unbearable for any length of time. id like some that is more like a bucket seat as well. what are my options? i found these,

https://technotoytuning.com/mazda/fb...rails-safb-rx7

woulld these be a good idea? im 100% ignorant on these topics :/ thanks for the help!

I'll let others comment on the suspension, I'm on Tokico Blues and Racing Beat springs currently and don't have enough experience to recommend anything else.

As far as the seats are concerned, you'll have some fitment issues. The main problem with the FB is that the seats tend to contact in 3 spots that are troublesome on stock cars: 1 is the e-brake, 2 is the bottom of the stock door card, 3 is the top of the stock door card. E-brake is obviously the most concerning of the 3 as it is a safety issue and most of us like to use it when parking. Hitting the door card isn't a huge deal, just frustrating to smack your seat with your door every time you go to close it.

For mounting, Corbeau makes double-locking seat rail sliders that mount very well onto the stock locations for the stock seat rails. They're extremely secure and are well-built, I have a set of these and will be using them for both of my seats. I have a Corbeau Forza Wide and a Corbeau FX1 Pro. Both of those seats contact in the 3 troublesome spots on those rails in the stock location. The only thing I can really do is slot out the Corbeau rails in order to try and maneuver the seats while mounted, trying to contact either the door card or the e-brake less - like the lesser of two evils kind of argument. What I would recommend doing for head clearance is cutting out the stock seat mounting points (the sheet metal) from the floor and doing a side-mounted seat bolted directly to the floor. This will give you the most headroom in the car and be extremely secure. Just be aware, that moving the seat then takes much much longer and is more of a pain, especially accessing the inside of the seat against the transmission tunnel.

Corbeau - Master Seat Brackets

I plan on putting together a video for my YouTube channel about this issue eventually, as well as my solution.

Here's a two-year-old video I did showing part of the problem:

Did you ever find a seat that works for you? I’m thinking of trying a Corbeau Evolution X.

in the old days, you used to be able to go to this thing called a store and sit in the seats, and buy the most comfortable one.

sparco, recaros and brides are actually comfortable, and they are certified, but its still nice to sit in one before you buy it

Ok, well i got SUPER lucky on the second RB i bought a couple of months back. it has illuminas! i plan on running these until i eventually switch to coil overs which brings me to my next question...

From what i can see we only have two options for coilvers. BC racing and T3. which are better? Its hard to find anythign on them :/

BC Racing uses BC Racing struts/shocks with adjustable valving.

T3 builds coilovers that accept whatever strut you provide. While this was the ideal solution at one point, all the performance shock/strut options for 1st gens went the way of the Dodo. so you're stuck with BS monroe and/or KYB OEM replacement units.

I personally am going to go BC because I can have them rebuilt and so long as BC is still in business, parts will be available.

Nope. T3 welds new 2" OD strut tubes onto your OE spindles and they take modern performance strut inserts. They asked me if I had a brand preference and I asked for Koni Race adjustables, which I have on the back too.

I stand corrected. Then T3 is probably the best option, albeit the most expensive.

I have read good things about the BC stuff for 1st gens (on this forum) and also Ground Control. T3 is just the brand I have experience with. But they say they can get almost any brand inserts you want.

I'm on the fence with BC Racing vs T3. I originally wanted T3 but with their current setup they are not what people call coil-overs. You adjust the right height by lowering the spring therefore reducing strut stroke. Where as with BC Racing you get the ride height adjustability from rotating the strut body. I know T3 has some developments coming down the pipeline with their evolved struts which is all new spindles and the ride height is adjustable by moving the spindle up/down the strut. And looking at the product for a different application it appears the new design is going through another revision.

I have emailed T3 a few times this year trying to figure out if they are going to provide this same design to SA/FB and the best time line I could get a month or so ago was probably by Fall 2020.

Another point for T3 is you can basically use any 2-inch strut (Bilstein, Koni, whatever) vs BC Racing you only use their strut. I don't know anything about BC Racing (outside of a decent marketing department) so I don't know if this matters and searching for reviews is probably not recommended.

Personally I'm not in a rush and am willing to wait to see what T3 has to offer if/when the new line is released and go from there.
