The M-62 found on the Ford 3.8s may only be able to deliver moderate boost. (like 8 pounds or so)
I figure since everything needs to be fabbed from scratch to make one work, you should opt for the larger M-90, which will have much more potential boost for the 12a.
-It will be a bit more fabbing, though, because the M-62 is smaller, and the bypass valve is an integral part of the blower, whereas the bypass valve on the M-90 blowers is added on as part of the plumbing.

Definitely use the bypass. Eaton says the blower will only use 3 HP to spin it during low manifold vacuum when the bypass valve is on (during cruise).
This helps take constant pressure off the front engine bearing, as well as economising fuel consumption.

I plan to relocate my alternator to the side of the engine where the AC compressor was, and probably relocate the oil filter, too. This leaves a nice spot on top of the engine. Creative mounting can make use of the various threaded holes on the top of the engine (rats nest mounts.)

No doubt about it, it's one in depth project. Like rotorydankus, I plan to build it on an engine and then plant the engine instead of trying to do it under the hood. It's a long and careful enough project to warrant yanking the engine, I think.

...of course everytime I think I'm going to start the project, it gets put off.

Question I have is this. Can the 12A be safely boosted beyond 8lbs or so? I mean on a regular basis that you would see in a daily driver, not a trailer queen, drag car.

DF is just messing around, his "graphic"ing of you should be considered an honor....you've touched him enough to respond,,,but, seriously, if you've been raised in America, then you must realize that the typed word here is a pretty good indicator of intelligence. Or whether you really care how you present yourself even beyond this virtual world. It's not all that hard to lay out text and make it correct. There really is no excuse for shoddy workmanship in the real world or here, when you think about it, if you are possessed of the proper discipline. And that's what poor diction here really speaks about. And if you don't have the discipline, why would anyone think you'd be capable of all the things you deftly smash out on the keyboard?

Anyhoos...the big problem with this idea and my idea of the twin 300ZX turbos, is that the engine has to be specifically be built for boost. If you attempt to place these beasts on a NA aspirated 12A or even 13B, you're talking about an engine that won't be around very long, especially if it's not intercooled, somehow...

I think it was eddierotary who's already found this out the hard way. If it wasn't him, it was someone in the past 6 months that did the turbo thing on a regular engine that wasn't pre-built for boosting. Take heed...

Mario, keep your diction advice and your boost advice in two seperate posts to the thread. This allows for two paralell conversations at once where we can agree AND disagree, be buddies AND call each other names, but never have one spill into the other (topic, I mean).
HOOYAH!

Now, I have excellent craftmanship. I have to as that is how I support my family. Thusly, I disagree with your using a persons "diction" ineptitude as a direct indicator of his craftmanship. I also know a few "red-necky" people who are very disiplined at killing things in the woods with the dead-on accuracey that reflects their discipline.
-They can't spell their own names, and so once again, I have to disagree.

Mar3 is correct about the engine not being able to withstand unreasonable boost. However, I maintain that boost can be regulated down with the use of an appropriate pulley.
At a later date, however, with some addition fabrication of a water injection system (which should pale in comparison to the depth and complexity of the original project), you can up the boost safely.

It would just be nice to know you can, if you were so inclined.
It was really just food for thought.

I agree to disagree...I didn't realize there were two posts running this topic, sorry...I saw this one first and you being the last poster drew me to it...

Now that I think of it, that's why I looked at it again, too....I'm trying to find the widebody thread and you're distracting me...
