Supercharger

Has anyone installed a camden supercharger on an SA22? How'd it work? Any problems? What Carb did you use? Did you remove the thermal reactor?

Search on user Jeff20B posts. He talks about this in his builds frequently and has some useful
thoughts on how well they work.

Atkins Rotary has information on their website and I believe still sells the kits. I've seen a kit lately on E-bay. I think Turbos have better results on rotaries than the superchargers so they don't seem to be very popular.

It's odd that a Turbo would work better than a supercharger in a rotary. The goal is the same. More oxygen entering the engine. Rotary engine exhaust gases are so hot I would think that Turbos would have the life expectancy of a Tutsi fly. With lower compression I'd think a rotary was perfect for supercharging. Hmm. I'll look.

But the exhaust gasses are pushing strait onto the turbo... its super effective. My turbo spools sooooo fast its not funny.

The strong pulse of a rotary really pushes a turbo to vs the belt churning air

I'll be a big proponent of a turbocharged application as well, probably a similar cost to a supercharger from start to finish as well

Way cheaper. If you're crafty.

don't understand

Let's see.. Instant response, smooth, consistent power curve, less under hood heat, no inter cooler, no waste gate, no plumbing, no exhaust back pressure. And I can leave all of my stock smog gear in place for the CO enviro-*****.

Tell me again. Why Turbo?

Doing pretty much anything to the intake side of an SA (excepting maybe cold-air intake) without first ditching the thermal reactor is a path to disappointment.

The TR system works fine for emissions control, but it's a tuned restriction in the exhaust. No sense in trying to cram more into the intake if you can't get it out the exhaust fast enough.
