The Super 12A Is Ready For Install! *PICS*

Just thought I would share some pics with everyone. I ended up getting a new 12A from a local junkyard. It has about 90,000 on it, and is in much better shape overall than my other engine. No broken bolts or studs, or other jackass schemes pulled by the previous owner. I've finally got it all ready to drop in the car, and hopefully will be doing so this weekend. I am running an emissionless setup, with a slightly modified Nikki (by Sterling), a RB header, a K&N, chopped up aircleaner, 8mm accel wires, RB light steel flywheel, new stock clutch and pressure plate, and new gaskets all around. I'm also dumping the beehive for a nice front mount oil cooler. Eventually I will also be switching to Jeff 20B's direct fire setup. But for now I think I've taken enough stuff apart. Gotta make sure this thing runs, and that my tranny swap worked out okay. Here are the pics. Let me know what you fellas think. Later all!

Jamie

Very nice! You should be proud.
You've been on this for a long time, and it really shows.

Someday...

ya another question about the air intake wouldnt it flow even more air with one of the circular pieces of plastic you can buy that just covers the top of the filter so it sucks air in from all around... ill try to find a picture of what im talking about

very nice and clean good job. what type of paint did you use? also as a suggestion you said a chopped up air canister you can get more air than that if you cut large patches out of ther sides inbetween the clips you can still get a tight seal from the clips but allow WAY more air i noticed substanitial increase from the setup you have now and the one i did after all you need is to use a dremel tool and a fiberdisc blade and itll take ten minutes and air can enter in at all angles instead of just thru the 1 inlet there are 4 clips so you can have 4 large rectangles inbetween each clip. just my 2 cents. nice work

Paint does wonders for the engine. I spent a lot of time cleaning stuff though. I am really **** about how stuff, looks. My goal is for the whole car to look that good when I'm' done.

I have a second prototype of an air cleaner in the works, but right now it is on the back burner. There is almost nothing left of it. The one that is on the engine in the pics is my "show" aircleaner. Wanted to maintain the stock appearance, to keep things lookin' nice. Someday you'll see the chopped up one though...

Jamie

EDIT: Got the engine sent to my door for $300. Pretty good deal IMO. For a fairly low mileage 12A. Now I can fix the old one and hopefully port it someday...

Yeah, I guess that title is sorta misleading huh? I guess it should've been the "super clean 12A." I consider this engine to be the king of bolt ons. Anything that we have discovered here on the forum will be done to the engine. I'm trying to see how much power I can squeeze out of a stockport 12A, without porting, turbo, or supercharging. Just good ol' bolt ons, racing beat products, and modifications. Hopefully I'll be able to dyno it when its done...

Good job Jamie. I am tearing down my first engine, got a guy that is going to port it and I am going to attempt to rebuild it. Looking forward to the challenge. I plan on doijng a street port and probably do a Holly intake with a 500 Edelbrock. I plan on painting the steel housings black like you did and polishing out the rotor housings and clearcoating everything. Thanks for sharing.

I chose black on my 13B instead of Mazda blue too (as on my 1st SP 12A). Looks sharp! When do we hear about how she runs?
