Sunroof won't latch closed 85 gsl-se
I noticed alot of wind noise while driving my gsl-se. Finally figured out that it was coming from the sunroof. I tried twisting the **** to see if it wasn't closed all the way. Turning clockwise did nothing. Turning counter clockwise did nothing.
However, much to my surprise pushing upwards on the sunroof and it lifted right up. Its still hinged in the front. But I can't get it to lock down in the rear.
This is my first seven, so i'm not quite sure how its supposed to work. Ideas? Thanks.

This is a fairly easy fix also. Just take it apart, and glue it back to the **** with 2 part adhisive. It was really easy to figure out. about a 10 minute fix+ dry time. so far its still holding strong. also you would never be able to tell unless you took it appart.

The sunroof jacks are fragile; they break in a number of places over time:
The worm gear can come loose from the shaft, which is what sounds like has happened to you.
The pedestal can crack along the 4 screw holes that hold the top plate on.
The four screw loops around the bottom that hold the unit to the car body are notorious for cracking loose & coming off.
Whole thing is really just way too fragile - - should have been made from cast aluminum, considering the weight it carries when the roof is open even partway.
Sadly, getting one reproduced in metal would cost $100's on a small scale.

Thanks guys. Hey, I tried to take the sunroof off tonight and I got it unlatched in the rear, but I'm not sure how to get it out in the front where the hinges are.
I'm sure its simple but I didn't want to force it and break something. Thanks.
