Sunroof change out.

I have a 1985 GSL with the screw type, where you twist it to raise it up and down, it is solid with the top not see-thru but same color as body. What I want to do is swap it out with the "glass" type on the GSLSE's. My question is ....are they interchangeable? Can I install the glass on the non-glass system?

Thanks Doc! I knew this would be an easy on for you. Ok, now another one. Other than ebay are there places out there with web stores that sell car body type items? Like fenders, sunroofs...etc.

Glass sunroofs are no longer made so your best bet is to either place a WTB thread in the parts classifieds or check ebay. :-)

Fenders and body parts can be found at blackdragonauto.com and you can still find some body parts available through the Mazda dealer.

Glass sunroofs can get pricey by the way. I've seen selling prices in the $100+ range. It's totally worth it for spring time and night driving IMO though.

I have spare glass sunroofs (I grab them at the PnP so they don't go to the crusher) but the shipping trouble and expense means that I don't post a FS, except maybe in the local club.

Try craigslist in your area.

Price can be anything. A few years ago I bought my first glass roof for $200 from another RX-7 guy and we both thought it was a good deal. A few months ago I sold a sunroof to a local guy for $50 and we both thought it was a good deal.
