Sun roof question

('83 Limited Edition) I've had the car for a few months and haven't tried to open the sun roof until yesterday. I don't have an owner's manual and the shop manual doesn't help... The sun roof has a **** in the back to screw it up. Once open, there are two red buttons and a safety catch that will release the back of the sun roof from the car. Is is there a way to completely detach the sun roof from the car? The sun roof is metal on the outside. If I wanted a clear glass in its place, what would I have to look for on eBay?

Thanks - David

You turn that **** all the way up, undo those two little buttons, and then there is just one hook sort of thing, you need to be outside the car to get to that one. But it comes all the way off and car be stored in the hatch.

Once you have released the three latches, just slide the panel up and out backwards. There are two flat curved blades in slots on the front of the opening. The glass roof goes in, in the reverse order.

I guess that means you already know which buttons to push, if you are having trouble removing it, take your time and wiggle it a little and work it out, when I took mine out I found out that the flat brackets were so badly rusted that they didnt want to slide out easily, try not to bend anything.
Also be careful if you decide to use lube to get it out, WD-40 and aerokroil (my 2 faveorites) like to mess up paintjobs.
