Summer's Here! Plans??

Sup guys,

That's right, it's that time of the year again. Fresh pollen to keep the cars coated and heat to melt the dashboards. Gotta love the summer. Plenty of time for everything, not enough money to do anything.

My plans this summer
Electric fan
LSD
SE wheel and rear disk brakes
Getting the dent pulled out in a month or two (soon as I finish getting all the money together)
Maybe FI

Anyone else have big plans this summer?

I've started on mine, though the bulk of them are involving my FD

FB plans:
GM-Ignitor DLIDFIS (wiring now)
Carter Fuel Pump (ordered today)
Holley 600 Double Pumper carb (rebuilding now) to replace Vacuum Secondary carb
Paint (Possibly even just rattlecan primer so it's consistent)
Tires (done)
New Rotors/Pads (waiting on rotors)
Electric Fan (Have yet to order)
Exhaust (Have yet to order)
Then I'll begin cleaning up the engine bay, doing a lot of painting.

FD plans: (Have all the parts, just waiting to install)
New RP Competition fuel pump
Relocate Fuel filter, and replace stock filter with 35micron SS Mesh filter
Pettit AST
ASP/M2/PettitCCIII-style Large SMIC
AEM UEGO Wideband O2 Gauge Kit
New OEM Plugs (all 9s) and wires
Datalogit (done already)

So I got a few things going on.

Hmm, let's see now....

Cut the spare set of springs that are sitting in my garage (short term fix only).
Install the other MR2 fan on my radiator (only running one now, but no issues).
Heavier sway bars front and back.
NEW TIRES SOON!!! (old worn out snow tires I bought her with suck!).
Have to get a LSD rear end.
Rebuild/Port the spare engine.
LOTS MORE AUTOCROSS!

off topic but where do you plan on getting the rebuild/port job done or are you doing it yourself? Just wondering cause I'm thinkin about the same thing so I'm looking for a good place in the area.

and my summer plans include...
Poly bushings up front
Tokico blues
maybe RB springs
actually tuning my Sterling
and a choice of other things, mostly porting/rebuild or nitrous (or both if the money comes my way)

Oh yea, that idler arm is probably going to get replaced on my FB as well. The steering is a bit sloppy for my tastes.

I actually am using your GM Ignitor howto to do the conversion along with the TulsaTurbo diagram. The only difference, I am gutting bad J109s instead of fabbing something to fit in the dizzy connectors.

i duno if you read the whole post but i didnt get them running to good was a good qwick fix to run the car tach bounced like crazy but you could use a j109 for trailing and it should work fine
do a resistance test with a multimeter put on the 2kgreen side report what you get

I read another guy had it working great, so I guess the results may vary? It's too late to test my one 'bad' ignitor, as it's already gutted. I am however trying to source another bad one, so I can sell or trade my good J109s to offset the cost of upgrading to DLIDFIS.

What I'd LIKE to acheive:

For the GS:
custom door panels
Re-doing sound system (adding 4 speakers and another sub, changing locations of a few components)
Venting hood(possibly, still deciding)/headlight lid
fixing a few odds and ends (fussy hatch closure, hood not releasing completely, etc)
Removing A/C

For the GSL-SE:
stripping out interior (except dash and console)
Roll cage
new seat
new harness
new shift ****
new steering wheel
buying black dash and console/and or dying current burgandy ones
new tires
venting hood
flush mount headlights

Half the stuff doesn't cost much, but **** am I going to be busy.

Damn man you're living my dream -FC.

I hope everything goes well. I love FD's,FC's but my favorite will always be the FB. Even though the Spirit R is a close match.

BTW I plan to be the first person to have a street legal Spirit R in NJ/U.S. No matter what it takes

Finishing another engine swap... I know I know...

But trying to get the motovation to go to the salvage yard now to get a flange from an FC fuel tank to finish my FI conversion.

I f'ed up my first try as I didn't realize that the tank is NOT sealed by the flange but the lip INSIDE the flange. Ya... a week wasted.

Cool

Drive the 7! Refurbished it this winter. Retire from the military 31AUG06. Enjoy driving my car with no place to be and all the time I need to get there.

I do everything myself except for alignments. I don't trust anybody else to work on my stuff, especially a rotary powered vehicle...plus Im a mechanic of all trades.

Finally buy my first 7... found a 79 sitting out next to a local shop, bodys solid, interior pretty good for its age, and in the 2 minutes I had to talk to the guy he said it would turn over but kept flooding so it wouldnt start. He said he just parked it because he didnt know what to do with "them dang rotaries" so hopefully i can get a deal on it... it only has 109k on it maybe ill get even luckier and itll run with a little elbow grease
