my 85 cp just died on me . i was taking off from a dead stop and it died at about 3000 rpm for about 2sec and than kept going . what would cause this dying . it does this every time.

 

Whats a CP?

Does it sputter when it dies? or just quit?

Any modifications? Is this a 12A or 13B?

Does it backfire ever when it starts back up?

 

cp is the style it just quits ists an 12a and no backfire

 

Does the engine actually shut off? or is it just hesitating? Does this happen all the time or just occasionally? Does it happen when the engine is warm or cold or both?

You ask for a diagnosis, yet don't give much info... Tell us EVERYTHING you know about the problem.

 

it will do it cold and hot . every thing shuts off completely even the lights and it does this every time . just in 1st gear
