GA Success (mostly) Nikki rebuild

Got the carb torn down and rebuilt it this week, car had been sitting a good while before i bought it, so carb needed to be gone thru. Got it put it on this morning, only prob i had was a stuck rear needle and seat, so had to get that freed up, and also block off the shutter vlave (was making the ominous wheeeze and would close and basically shut off the rear rotor.....any ways, go all that done, got the idle mixture and idle adjusted, and everything seems good, except that if you stall it when its warming up you have to put starting fluid in the carb throat to get it restarted, I know the choke isnt working, will have to work on that, but my question is this, shouldnt it have gas in the bores when i pump the pedal to start and be able to crank??? Its almost like it has no gas in it.....ideas of what to check????

Pump the throttle by hand and look for gas to squirt out of the accelerator pump outlet between the primaries. It's possible you didn't re-install the check ball? It's an easy part to overlook... Click this link and look at the 3rd picture down... https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/how-test-nikki-fuel-jets-without-rx-7-a-964299/

Duhhh......answer was so simple i simply didnt think of the obvious....thanks for straightening my mind out! lol. Will check tomorrow and see if its squirting out the squirter....check ball is in....forgot it when i had it on the bench and caught it before i installed. Both checkball...the one over the acc pump and the one below the squirter are there, along with the weights. I am still hoping it just ends up being the choke setup that isnt working. Car starts fine if you turn it off with the key...if ya stall it or let it die while warming up is the only time it acts up....drives fine, runs fine, idles fine.... Thanks again for the tip!
