sub mounts

Whats up everyone...I was thinkin about mounting the subs in the storage compartments behind the seats...like one for each compartment...cut holes...screw the subs into em, and use the compartments for the boxes...will this work and has it been done?

thanks

subenclosure

This is my sub enclosure.. I didn't want the weight of two subs so I split and put the amp on one side and the sub on the other. It sounds awesome.. I used the bottom of the car for the seal, and used liquid nails to put it together.

Sorry to say it, but spoken like a true amature. The bins are NOT in any way either air tight or strong enough to even consider as a sub box. You might make a 6.5" sub work, but that isn't what anyone wants. You will have to build a proper box to fit in there. The end result is not the greatest either. It looks good, but will not perform worth a ****. There is just not enough area for anything bigger than an 8" sub in a proper box. But then again, I never go by what the manufacturer says as a good box size. It is just NEVER adaquate. Its not always good to have a small box. Only if you want minimal low end extention and very poor sound do you want a small box.

If you build a box like I did. i.e. so the sub points up, you can get enough volume for the sub enclosure.. you have to rip out everything concernring the bins though and go completely custom.

I think the biggest box you can fit in there is like 2 cu ft. It ain't the most ideal layout either. Definately not big enough for a larger high power sub. Also, with the hump in the middle, you will get some really weird resonance from the waves inside the box bouncing around so wildly.

or buy a truck box and sit it in your hatch and incase you didn't look at the link i posted before, you might want to, he did a really good job of it. And yes it's already been stated that the bins are not air tight.

I've seen both of those boxes. They are just too small for my sound liking. I had my 12" pioneer in the recomended sealed enclosure size and it sucked ***. I put it in a ported 2.5 cu ft enclosure and the bottom end extension is great and lots of volume too. It can compete with the 2 12" sony's my one friend has. He has them in the recomended box size with 1000 watts. I'm running only 300 watts and a single 12". I'm not kidding. Power isn't everything. You have to have a proper box to house the speaker as well. After I heard my friends sony's, I thought "These are the all powerful pentagon style 1000 watters?? Give me a break!". I've had deeper sounding farts than those speakers can make.

sony is **** to begin with you can't get good bass from **** speakers no matter what box design you use

my $80 audiobahns sounded great in a 1 cube sealed box they also hit hard i ran a 149 db with 2 12" subs and a memphis amp. system total $ 900.00 all new equipment. if your looking for mind numbing bass look into
memphis- good small amps and good lighter weight subs good value
DD- extreme copetition equpment not fancy
RE- comp. quality not fancy
ED- comp. quality not fancy
XXX- comp quality again not fancy
Brahma- comp quality loud but not great sound quality
shocker-extremely loud but poor sound quality
these companies have good warrenties and tough equipment most have RMS values of 1500+watts with peaks over 6000watts
, (NO JL AUDIO) i use memphis amps for light weight and good efficiency no need for extra batteries and caps small size too they run cool so you can mount them anywhere

if i decide to put a system in my 7 its gonna be light weight 1 DD9510 1500watts rms and a memphis st1000d amp 1100watts RMS total weight less than 45lbs but will still hit high 140s and have clean bass being that im a recovering audiofile this is just my 2 cents worth

Subs

I'm putting in 2 12" infinity series speakers. It works fine sometimes instead of building your own boxes all the time sometimes you just have to go to a place that is known for awesome boxes. Theres no limit to the amount of power you can. The mith that big sound isn't for a small car like the rex is totally wrong. I've been in a rex with 3gs in bass power and it sounded great. Midst well try it if it screws up try again

Fosgates aren't bad, but after hearing the awsome bass that my 12" pioneer handles at only 100 watts, I will never get rid of this sub. I doubt I could blow it up too since I only have 300watts to use and its rated up to 500 watts. I know there are other factors, but I have been around long enough to know. Another good quality brand is Pyle. My dad has two 15" subs. I had one in a smaller bandpass box with my 300 watts and I swear it could have done better than 135 DB easily. This is a single 15" sub with a small amount of power.

I know I am only using 100 watts on my 12" because its not in the car right now. Its in my bedroom running on my home theater amp. Its max is 100 watts and it damn near litterally shakes the whole house. Its only using less than half its total excursion too. Its f***ing sweet.

I forgot to mention that it can go down to something like 23Hz. It is audible at that frequency too. Not just cone movement. Now I just got to solve my problem of port noise and it will be set. I think a 3.5" port will work.

Talking about this made me think about testing my sub. At 56Hz, the 12" pioneer was able to hit 123 Db with <100 watts of power. Hell yeah baby. I went to check the excursion of the speaker and I had to plug my ears it was so loud next to it.
