My favorite was years ago at a car show as we were admiring a beautiful little Ferrari coupe from the early 1950s. We heard someone behind us say "It must be some kind of Mustang- it has that little horse on the front"

The Avanti was great,the first real Bond car,or at least the interior looked the sort.
I never thought about it,even being a Studebaker guy myself,but I guess an older person might mistake a 1st gen for an Avanti....after all,there werent many sleek sports cars back in the 60's and 70's, that werent European.
My other project car besides the Samurai,is my grannies old 59' Lark.Great little hotrod car,simple clean lines,and its the first year of that model.
Original owners....it was her first car,my Mom's first car and I grew up riding around in it,hauling horse trailers and riding in the back with hay bails.It now has a fully built 403 Olds,new T350,four wheel discs and a Caddy rearend.Canteloupe orange (light pastel) with a white top and all original stainless trim.Just need to do the interior to finish it off, and a few other little items.......maybe get it done this decade!

I know the Avantis came with Studebaker's own 289's and they even offered a supercharged one. They were also fiberglass bodies.
The new ones look a lot like the old ones. If you think of the car as a bar of soap, the new ones look like the rough edges have been rubbed off by a giant pair of hands.
I'm more of a Studebaker SilverHawk fan myself, 1957, distinctfully ugly in a classy way.

Your attached picture is right on. The first gen SA/FB is reminiscent of the 1953 Raymond Leowy Starlight coupe. The 6 cylinder Champion looks the cleanest due to less badgeing and a simpler grill. Wish I still had mine.

Same here.
When my grandpa bought the Lark in 59,he traded in his "less practical" 56 Golden Hawk........man,I wish he had kept it,Id love to restore one of those,especially a family owned one.
