Talking strut tower bar EVERYONE LOOK

i have been thinking about buying front and rear strut tower bars for the rex. after lots of thinking, i realized that my dad has been working in fabrications (welding and pipe fitting) for over 35 years. we talked about it and we figured it would be a peice of cake to make them ourselves. i have done a lot of this work myself, and i know i can make them as strong, durable, and attractive as any other company can.

my question to everyone is, would anyone be interested in purchasing some strut bars from us. i want to start making them and would deffinately sell them for cheaper then other places do. i will make front and rear. please give me any comments or suggestions. if you are interested then tell me and i will try to start on this project. so far, it is just an idea, but can deffinately be done. if there is an interest, then i can make a set and post some pictures, i just want to see what people think before i bust out about 20 of these things.

Post A pic. There are alot of companies making strut bars who have serious buying power. It might be a little difficult for you to make a high quality piece for a low price. But I am definitely willing to check out your work.

Should be no problem. There are a couple of people on the FB email list that have made their own strut tower brace.
FWIW, there are no rear strut towers on FBs (no rear struts, just shocks,) so you only need the front strut brace.

hades12, i am planning on making a bar that goes across the strut towers, and has two bars that bolt to the firewall. it will be like the ones cp racing makes, but i'm not going to directly copy it. i will deffinately take some pics and talk about prices after i get done.

BTW, it will deffinately be more affordable. i have lots of access to materials. i am also thinking about making one out of polished stainless steel but that will be more expensive. it will however look better than painted steel.

frankenrex-- i may be wrong with the terminology, but cp racing makes a rear strut tower bar and that is what they call it. it is a bar that goes across the top of the rear shocks and also bolts to the bottom of the rear hatch area. it is a very simple design.

Will it look anything like this?

I found that once I installed my front strut mount brace, the rubber donuts at the upper strut mounts went out, violently - in the case of the driver's side. Nothing like having your shock rod poking a dent in the bottomside of your hood! I think the additional rigidity of the front brace caused the aging strut mounts to blow. Something to think about...

you know they advertise the rear bar as bolt in on cpracing's webpage so I ordered it without thinking about it. I got the bar and went to bolt it in and I noticed theres nowhere to bolt it in. I guess you have to put some bolts to mount the bar. Bummer...
