Stripped Hub on my 85. 2 lugs wont hold. Any ideas?

No shop will bore out the hub seats or whatever the proper term is. The idea is to tap a new stud through and put a lock nut on the back. Ghetto yes but it'll work. So i cant find anyone to do this. Any other suggestions?

Next i'll try to find a machine shop that'll try to re thread the hub. Any info is appreciated!

Thanks
Nick

Front or rear? If front, just get a new rotor. Rear would require replacing the axle, to do it right, but you could have the holes drilled out, and press studs in.

best thing is to pick-your-part a new axel shaft.

or

since the threads are toast u got nothing to lose. find a traditional style wheel stud that is splined and has the flat head on the end. remove the axel shaft. hammer the stud from backside of axel thru the hub and out the front.

I used honda pilot front wheel studs on the front of my REPU of that helps. same 12mm thread/pitch too. maybe .003 larger diameter splines than REPU, you will prolly need larger than that. take a look @ Mazda B2200 rear wheel studs. napaonline.com gives you full specs.

As said above. Remove the axels and have them drilled out an press in studs installed. Here is a link for many press in studs. 12MM is .472. Just find the lenght you want and make sure the knurl diameter is larger than .472.

Or take them to a machine shop and have them source the proper size for you.

Thanks a lot Billy. Looks like i'll have a busy day tomorrow being that it'll be the first axle i have ever removed.

Would i be able to just hammer a stud through like Drivefast7 said or would i have to get it drilled through?

About a year ago I stripped out one of the lug stud holes on my front rotor. What I did as a temporary fix was take a rotor off my parts car, swap out the bearings, etc and put it back on, worked great. New Front rotors arent expensive at all just get yourself a new one, put new bearings in it and your good to go. Machine shop's can get expensive. I worked at one in Raleigh for a couple of months and their labor rate was $65 an hour. . Good Luck!

I had the same issue with a lug bolt hole being stripped in the rear. Was able to get some press in studds that were longer then the stock lugs. After removing the rear drum brake hardware I was able to get them pulled through without having to remove the rear axles. Fed them through, put the spare tire on, then put a bolt on them and cranked till they were in.
