streetport with no compression smoked the competition last night

1) 1987 4AGE MR2 head work, agressive cams, sprockets, open exhaust . RX7 wins by 2-3 carlenghts would have been more (rx7 ran overly rich later it was fixed)

2) 90's ZC honda CRX european version, headers, mild cams, runs a low 15s. rx7 wins by 2-3 carlenghts

3) 2003 Tsport toyota U.K. built corolla 2ZZGE stock with190hp (modded now) doing 14.5 1/4, close tranny, matrix injection sys, Sapexi, light flywheel, high perf cluth, exhaust system, etc . rx7 lost, side by side and beat me by a nose.

No low rpm compression, my engine is incredibly rich running since I still have a 45DCOE, street port with huge exhaust ports.

I think I knocked about .75 secs of my previous 1/4 mile times, but the engine has to be opened up again. I couldn't stop the engine the whole night because it will not start by itself, it needs to be push started. I will not wait for the break in since it has been ran for a couple of days already and no sign of compression buildup...so it's getting rebuilt again and for the meantime I'm just having some fun...

should I just bridge or cheeseport? hehe

I too am pondering the question of cheeseport or partial/half bridgeport.

Has anyone done a really small bridgeport?

I mean small as in a thin brow to keep the bridge thick to avoid premature cracking.

14.5 1/4 w/o tuning. 3rd car I raced is doing just that...I still have to confirm at the track. But I doubt I will never know for sure because I'm tearing the engine apart again.

pillage6 hey I want to do just that...after noticing how much of an improvement a nice properly tuned streetport makes I want to bridge now...I got the carbon seals so it's just the next logical step but I do want a small bridge also...this has to be reliable.

Racing Beat used to do those small bridgeports. The inner water seal was kept intact and the rotor housings were not cut. They worked pretty well, and lasted a long time. Nowadays, they're called a "baby bridge".
I think they are a good option for daily-driven cars, not as much power as a monster bridge, but better longevity due to the better sealing and thicker bridge.

Has anyone actually SEEN a cracked bridge?

All the people I talk to who own a bridgeport say they've never cracked one. Usually something else that fails like apex or bearings.....
