street port vs. normal rb exhaust
I'm planning on getting the normal racing beat exhaust system for my 79, but i was thinking, sometime in the future i'm going to streetport it. Should i drop the extra $200 on a sp system or just go with the normal? How much hp can be gained over the normal exhaust when you street port it? finally, whats the noise difference?
Thanks

A bit larger inlet and a little more noise from the muffler, but its still pretty quiet. The dual presilencers make the system heavier and youll have to source a stock, dual pipe mid-section.It is the best, power making exhaust out there that you can buy and simply bolt up.....

i think on the racing beat website it says a 5% gain on street ported cars with a sp exhaust over the normal exhaust. 22% with the normal on a -se is 29.7 hp. with a street port with sp exhaust is 36.45 hp. 6.75 hp? not worth $200 in my mind. i will put that money towards a supercharger and get far more than 6.75 hp if hp is what you are looking for. my .02
