Unhappy Strange noises??

Ok so I have had my car back on the road now for about a week and tonight I noticed that it is making some strange noises. Whenever I let off the gas I can hear a noise reverberating in the exhaust pipes. It sounds like either a whistle or a small pebble bouncing around in the exhaust. This bothers me as I have heard detonation described as popcorn popping in your exhaust, and while this doesn't sound that bad I am courious as to if anyone has any idea what might be causing it. Thanks in advance.

Ben

Do you have a catalytic converter?

Mine is shot, and makes a whistle with the revs of the engine. Rev faster, pitch of the whistle gets higher.

The inside of the cat is probably shot like mine is, and rattles and whistles.

But than again, what do I know?

Detonation would more likely be present when under high load, not when you let off the gas.

Actually, I think I may know what it is. I had the same thing. There is a metal pipe that comes up from the cat and goes to the ACV. When I reattached mine, I didnt secure it well. The valve on the pipe (metal mushroom) would bang against the other pipe down there. Just check on the passenger side and make sure that none of those pipes are banging together.

All that would be relevant if I still had any cats or an ACV. Since I have no emmissions and the racing beat street port exhuast alas that is not it.

Are you sure its not your girlfriend in the passenger seat tapping your arm, and attempting to scream, "Damn it.......you can't hear me, can you?? I hate this car! Why won't you buy a quieter car?"

He he
well if I had a girlfriend I am sure she'd be saying just that

I bought the car with the exhaust on it. Not really sure how long it has been on, why do you ask?

Its getting worse, whenever I let off the clutch and the engine winds down the car makes a loud squeak. Anyone, anyone at all?

It may be your exhaust heat shield. Or the muffler shield. I had a noise like that and I could have sworn it was coming from the exhaust, it turned out to be the alternator bearings. They went bad and would sound like drumming the bottom of a metal trash can rapidly. It happened usually from 2,000-4,000rpm.

I don't believe there are any exhaust shields either, think they went away with the true dual, but I'll check.
