Strange HVAC issue. Weak vent, only in HOT

'82 GSL 12a

I've noticed lately my right foot is roasting while driving.

I have to turn the heat down to zero before it cools. No matter what setting I'm on, heat comes out at the gas pedal at some flow rate.

If I turn the blower to:
HIGH - COLD - VENT
it comes out the main vents with good force.

If I turn the blower to:
HIGH - HOT - VENT
the vent flow seriously decreases and is lukewarm, and the heat at my foot seriously increases!

What door am I looking for that's failed?

Control cables may be slipping. Chapter 15 page 79 in the FSM has some troubleshooting info for the heating system. From the 84 manual...

+1; wire slipping, or a stuck door/debris in the vent box.

Looks like an alignment kind of issue. The bottom door for the floor heat is a little sketchy. If I move the **** a little bit towards REC it closes. If it's straight in the VENT position it's anybody's guess where it's going to end up.

How do the clips come off the cable? They are a pain! Seems like it could definitely use an adjustment.
