The story of my RX-7s!!!!!!
Ok, so I figured since I havent posted any pics or anything that it was time for an update!
Anyways before I get to the pictures Ill give you all a little bit of history and info on my good and bad luck...
Soooo, back in '03 I picked up my very first RX-7, a very rough silver '85 GSL. I remember going to look at it, and immediately falling in love with these little cars. I knew before even talking to the seller that it would be mine, and at $600.00 the second he came out to show me, I said Id take it!
I remember him asking if he could have a few days to clean it out and and get it ready but somehow I got him to let me take it that night on the spot. I remember working on it all day, and just going to sit in it once it got dark for a few weeks until it was safetied and then I was out on the road! I put my heart and soul into the GSL..from a newer engine, to a completely new suspension, wheels, tires, new brakes, rebuilt rear end with 4.88 gears and all. I spent weeks fixing up the body and getting all the bugs worked out of the car. I had taken the project slow, trying to do it all right and work my way up from the important things like brakes/steering and suspension. I was just finally starting to think about the powerplant when bam, out one night cruising I got rear ended, apparently bad enough to write off the car. I was sooo disappointed I cant even think about it. All my hard work, taken away by a 16 year old girl who just got her license. The worst part was that the car didnt even get hit that hard, as you can see in the pictures its just minor damage.
Anyways, after getting sick and tired of fighting with autopac about the settlement, I just decided to just take the small offering they had, and move on. I kept the car, decided to set the loss aside and look for a new car.
As luck had it, soon after wrecking the old one I found my current project, a black 1985 GSL-SE..the model Ive always wanted! better yet, it had been kept completely stock...and when I say completely, I mean it. This car has barely changed from the factory, with the sole exception being a 6 disc FM modulated cd changer. The PO didnt even attach it to the body, he simply screwed it to a piece of wood under the carpet so that there wouldnt be as much as a hole in the car that wasnt stock. The outside has a few dings and dents but is in prety darn good shape for its age. It has also seen only 6 mild winters and has so little rust you definately have to know where to look to find it. At this point I couldnt be happier! here are some pictures:
I hope that you guys enjoyed my RX-7 rant, and like hearing about my adventures with these amazing little machines. Ill be sure to keep everyone informed about my projects, and hopefully inspire someone in the process!
Just remember everyone, stick with your RX-7s through the bad times and they will bring you many more happy ones!
I know I wouldnt be the same if I didnt see these when I look out my back door!
Many thanks to everyone here on the forum! If it wasnt for you Im sure I could be much worse off. I love the rotary lifestyle haha!
Cheers to a great car!

Awesome looking cars! Your silver car is exactly what I wanted my first RX-7 to look like!
I swear if someone crashes into my car when im done it, im going to snap! To most people cars are nothing, but to us its our passion and what we love.
Your new SE looks awesome! Its good to see that you haven't given up on the RX-7's due to some previous bad luck.

Terrified.
Definitely amazing looking cars, and like Dan said, our cars are our passion. I know I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have my cars.
And its amazing to hear the entire backstories to them as well. I'm just glad the SE fell into good hands.
