I was wondering what size the stock rear and front speakers are because I am looking to upgrade?

I replaced all my speakers recently. I have 2 infinity's up front and 2 pioneers in back. I htink the sizes up front are like 3.5 or 4 inch, they are tiny, lol but thats what fits. In back they are 6 1/2 inches i believe.

Although it is only 4 speakers it sounds great becuase infinity's are awesome and the pioneers in back are 100W rms capable so it gets loud.

I also have a 12 inch 500W Alpine Type R sub and it is also ******* loud... maybe too loud.
Its great, no one expects my little car to rattle their windows.

I just put in new fronts last night and putting in new rears tomorrow (would tonight but i'll be at the Twins game). 4" fronts and 6.5" rears both Pioneer. (i'm a cheap bastard)

If you goto Bestbuy they have a computer you can look the speaker sizes up on and it'll list all of the Makes/Models of speakers and decks. You can print it off and you'll have a hard copy of several possibilities.

How much do you have to cut to get 6.5" in the rear? I have Alpine 5.25" back there, and would like to go bigger and put the 5.25" in front (i know its a bitch, lots of work)

Sorry to jack your thread.

From what I can tell, they should fit cleanly. BUT that all depends on brand, different speakers are different depths and have different housing. I'd have to check out my printout from bestbuy to tell you what model Alpines would fit. I believe you can goto the bb website and check the fit.

I know the hole cutout for the speaker isnt 6.5" so the basket of the 6.5" wouldn't go in all the way without using a spacer. I tried. I would have had to cut. I just didnt konw exactly how much, I just poped in my 5.25" instead. I would like to put those in the front and put the 6.5" that are sitting on my shelf, in the rear. Maybe I'll do it this weekend. Maybe do a writeup if there is enough interest.

infinity has a shallow series and i may have the shallow 6.5"s now that i think about it. got mine from www.sounddomain.com. great on customer service. normal depth 6.5's were too big so i sent it back free of charge and got the shallows.

Got mine from Crutchfield. Stick in all your info, you'll find out what you need and what fits. I have Pioneer's all the way around, love the sound. Crutchfield also gives good customer service, all the wiring connectors and speaker mounting brackets (if needed, tho, I didn't, they fit great stock) you'll need come with the purchase to make a really simple install.

Is there a difference in models or years or something? Both my GSL's came with 6 and a half inch speakers in the back. Or maybe that is my imagination?

Got my 6.5" Pioneers in the rear tonight. Had to use some self-tapping screws but they are installed!

so what's the general concensus- 5.25" or 6.50" ? Do they both fit> My SA didn't come with anything in the rear, and I was fixin' to pop in some infinity ref 6012 shallow mounts. I don't want to do any cutting, so should I go with the 5.25"s or stick with the bigger ones- keeping in mind that I'll be using the stock radio.

whadda ya think?
