They look good. You see a big difference that's why I decided to do mine. How many did you get done?

Three wheels and two center caps. It would be nice if the pics did them any justice. If you're looking for a mirror polish, I'd definately recommend 2000 grit wet sanding, then the 3000 grit perfect-it by 3m. The mothers powerball is a GREAT investment too.

i was inspired by this thread to finally do my own wheels, i have 3 of them done already, one more to go hopefully tomorrow, Jiu-jitsu and sanding really take away the elbow grease. i honestly think i could do better, but i believe its a good step up from "before." I've only spent about 2 hrs per wheel including polishing.

anyways, here's a reference "before" look

and the worst looking of the "after" wheels so far, it's hard to tell from camera, but if you look very closely you can see some sanding streaks and what not

i think i did alright overall, could have spent more time...but... lol....thanks for the inspiration, and sorry for the thread jack

They're not going to be perfect with doing it by hand but they look great. Mine are the same way.Did you clear coat them? You should so they can stay like that & you don't have to repolish them.

I just used regular clear coat from 500 degree b/c I was too tired when I got done to hook up the gun.

I have a question how did you about it on the black surface of the wheel? Did you sand, polish and then paint the black back ion the wheel? If so what type of black paint did you use?

I didn't touch that part b/c it didn't need it. All I did at the end was clear coat the whole wheel.

you could always tell them to put them on the other side of the wheel, i just don't like the way they look. One of the guys at the tire shop actually recommended this i didn't know it was possible, but hey, i've had them do it since, only had 1 guy get pissed over it, but i think he was already having a bad day.
Actually, if you put the weight on the other side the balance would be off. When the wheel & tire is balanced there are two values listed, one for the inside lip, and one for the outside lip. However, the outside lip can be substitued for the stick on weights if there is a flat surface on the inside right behind the spokes to stick them. Some rims don't have an outside lip, forcing one to use the stickies. I don't really see why someone would bitch about installing the stickies in place of the hammer on type? 2 more seconds of work, okay maybe a minute. btw, good looking rims! but, by hand? fug that, if I try this I'll use a 3" roloc disc attachment on my air drill and start the sanding process, maybe finishing it by hand, well that and the really hard to reach places.
