Stock rim size: 5" wide or 5.5"?
I have an '84 GS with the stock 4 spoke 13s. I was trying to put some DOT legal race tires on them. Was looking at some 205/60/13s which will fit if the rim is 5.5" wide, but not if it is 5" wide. Anyone know this one?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi, I know this is a dumb question but can somebody tell me when you talk about tires such as 205/60/13s what the first two numbers mean (I am guessing the last number is for the 13 inch rims)
Thanks guys

1 inch = 25.4mm
section width 205mm/25.4 = 8.07 inches.
aspect ratio 60, so 8.07*.6 = 4.84 inches sidewall height (or 123mm)
overall height = side wall *2 + rim diameter
so 4.84*2+13 = 22.69 inches
of course these numbers are in theory only. tires differ slightly from manufactor and also vary depending on what size rim they are mounted.
