Stock port Vs. Mild Street port

Well here comes the concerns about gas mileage...
I have a set of virgin housings, I am thinking about rebuilding my motor with the stock ports. It currently has a street port, and I am going to drive it for awhile, not so much concerned with performance as I am about mileage. I am getting 18 Vs. the 25 I think I could be getting.. Besides, I cant really hear it as much as I think I should so I dont know if it is really adding anything... I am not concerned with the amount of hassle involved. I have a rebuild kit -Apex seals and -side seals -corner seals etc. So its now or never....

I did a G-Tech and got 195 hp, I am guesstimating I have 180-190 at the wheels, which would be close to what it should have according to what it makes at the flywheel. So I figure I should expect a twenty hp drop or so? I have re-jetted the carb and pulled about 1 mpg out of that.... This is temporary, I dont even know if I will do it. But like I said, I just dont hear it, maybe its just me.

Trust me though, the mileage is worth the rebuild. With as much driving as I am going to be doing, a fresh motor would be great. And I have big plans for a 13BT swap, and unlike many plans, that one WILL reach fruition.

J/W And if anyone has a good vid or sound lip of a street-ported rotary, LET ME KNOW!!! I have only heard one, mine, thats it. I was listening to Steves 7 and it sounds like mine... well any advise is much appreciated, call me an idiot if you must, but I dont think well under pressure....

Chris you live in a city, I doubt you'll ever get a constant 25, I get 23/24 all highway driving at 58 mph, that would drop a lot if I was in town. I've always heard that a street port will improve efficiency during regular street driving. My Mikuni and exhaust helped marginally.

You know, at higher RPM a perhipheral port is *very* economical, fuel wise.

I don't think you can judge someone's engine sounds with yours ... what you have as an exhaust system, will most likely be different from any other forum member hence diffrent sounds. Personally I didn't think that my SP added that much more noise.

if you have been driving a ported motor for over 2 decades, you will not notice any difference.
