Stock or Modified?

Stock or Modified?
I have a 1982 GSL in perfect running condition with a great body. I plan on doing what little needs to be done to make the car a great automobile, but I also want to lightly modify it so it is a little bit more exciting on the road. I don't plan on messing with the interior though. I like old school. Here's my issue. My friends dad (a piston head) argued that the car would be worth way more stock than modified. I can't imagine ever selling the car anyway, so I don't see the point. Can you guys please tell me if I'm being an ignorant douche? I just want some different opinions on this issue.
peace.
peace.

I think it all depends on the car. Like a bone stock 1968 Camaro in great shape, is gonna be worth more ALOT stock than if you modified it. But in the case of the RX-7, I think that modifying them is gonna raise the value...for now wtleast, maybe 20 more years down the road, they'll be a lot more desirable, and the stock ones will be worth more. I say mod it.

I say modify it to make it the car you want it to be. Enjoy it now.
If you want to play it safe, just save all the original pieces. In case you ever do want to return it to stock you can.

I save every stock part I remove, and enjoy the RB exhaust system/swaybar, newer stereo/mp3player, etc. but everything (with the exception of the bodycoloured console waterfall) can be unbolted and changed back to stock.
