with an auto box, a 0-60 of over 10 sec. with a manual trans, 0-60 9.4-9.7 roughly. top speed was 118mph. i have read that other top speeds being 122mph. 100hp is on par.

First thing he should do is read as much as he can and learn about the car. If he doesn't know anything about the rotary and doesn't respect it, then there's no reason for him to own the car. There's alot of things you could do to makie the car run better and be faster but you need at least a basic knowledge

Unless he's used to driving a Ferrari, I'm sure he'll be happy with it.

New exhaust, then a new carb. That will yeild about 150hp depending on the setup. Then some other things like ignition would be a good thing to upgrade.

well, if the struts are broken i would take the opportunity to rework the entire suspension. after that i would upgrade the brakes, change the exhaust and do a tranny/differential swap. then i would worry about adding hp to the engine. it is my theory (kind of mine anyways) that if you cant make it turn well and stop quickly then you should not add hp.

It's probably got a bit of carbon in there, would be my guess if it has been sitting for a year. After changing the oil and doing a radiator flush, either do the ATF treatment or just spray a little water with a spray bottle down the carburetor while reving at around 3-4k. Either of those will scrub the engine clean of carbon, just be sure you don't water lock the engine if you do the spray bottle method.

If it's still putting out white smoke after that you may have a coolant leak, and a rebuild would be in order for the engine. Better talk to more experienced folk than me before you do that.

Good luck, and show your buddy this forum, I'm sure he'll be hooked as fast as I was.

Redline is 7K. The gas is probably stagnant as hell and the oil is probably gobbed and clogged. Do a full tune up and see how it goes from there. Ifhe says it's quick and he likes it, he's obviously never driven a fast car.

no, tell him to come here and find the exact way to the seafoam, not just do it. that could mess things up.

is there a wrong way other than putting it in the oil and not changing it?
