Stock exhaust diameter

What's the diameter of the stock exhaust and muffler system? I've got what looks to be the racing beat 84-85 GSL-SE headers & exhaust system with the factory connecting pipe, and the previous owner also put the stock muffler back on.

So would there be any actual noticeable improvement aside from sound in moving from the stock muffler and piping to 2.25"?

sound a bit loud now because is about 2 years old. but in the other hand it gave me about 12 hp because i eliminate the stock cat and run 2.25 from the manifold to a single dinomax cat and 2.25 from the cat to the dinomax ultraflo muffler

well, I have no cats :p so that's why I'm wondering if going from the 2" stocker to a 2.25" aftermarket muffler and associated piping up the the remainder of the racingbeat unit would actually produce any gains

well if you want to have a loud exaust upgrade it to 2.25" or 2.5" but if your concern about noise, your best bet is racing beat muffer

Ok, so where's the happy medium? I want a nice sound and max performance, so a 2.5" piping, no cat, and a
(insert brand here) muffler and stock header-how would that work out?
