Stock Amp RMS power?

Anyone know off-hand what the RMS power of the stock clarion amps are? Not sure if I want to try and use them or bypass them with my head unit. The head unit only gets 17 Watts RMS x4 channels (50W peak).

Stock Amps = Stock Radio.

Just bypass them.

Use the speaker connections at the stock amps (bins behind seats.)
to avoid having to run new speaker wires.

Good Luck.

Stock amps = stock radio.....please elaborate?

I just bought a "new" used/vintage radio for my '83. My original radio is kind of beat up so I bought a period correct (two stalk) Sanyo.

I haven't installed a radio in a very long time.....can I just wire it into the existing system?

Sorry for the hi-jack

You can use the existing wiring harness but if you do, you will have to use the stock amps. To bypass the amps, you need to remove the rear bins and splice the wires together as they go in/out of the amp.

I think the FSM has a wiring diagram to show you what wires to splice together.

What directfreak is saying is the stock radio doesn't have internal power and is powering the speakers through the amps.
