Stiffer springs in rear

Got a few questions.. My rear tires are hitting the rear wheel well lips over large bumps.. The rears stick out a inch and I have 1-1/2" clearance between the tire and the wheel well when the car is sitting. I have ST springs and want to swap them out for a stiffer spring. Should i get the RB springs? Just doing the rears..Thanks

It would be recommended to change the fronts as well for a more balanced handling car, especially with your turbo power. RB rear springs are 110# and ST fronts are progressive 85/120#. Now if you want to hang the tail out during hard cornering then just change the rear springs. Try that first, you can always get the fronts done later.

RB front springs are cheap too... Might as well go for the whole set! Like I said, I like them. Maybe not stiff enough for all out racing, but the price jump to coil overs takes that option right out of the ball park for me... I do have the Illumina adjustable shocks/struts too though so its hard to tell how much of the stiffness is spring and how much is shock. But on the lowest setting, the ride is comfortable but firm I guess... On the highest setting, its a roller skate that you wouldn't want to take on a long drive (can really give your back a pounding).

You may also want to check Eibach's springs. I know the springs they make are stiffer for the front than RB springs are, but i am unsure about the rear. I have heard of Racers using 400 lb springs before. However you would have to haave them custom wound for the car. Also a lower profile tire may help some. Nice ride btw!!

The RB springs are definatly stiffer and may help the problem but you need to consider the condition of the springs that are currently on the car. There's a good chance they have sagged over the years, but if they haven't, the new RB springs may lower your car as much as an inch. If you only have 1 1/2" clearance now and the new springs lower the car..... you get the picture.

Im pretty sure the ST springs lower the car the same amount as the RB springs. You should check though before buying anything because gyp makes a good point.
