sticky floats?

ok put the race beat intake and carb on my 12a and I think the bowls are stiking shut? pump it no gas smack the bowls with a rubber hammer they open and you get gas for a minute then its like there stuck up and it lets mo more gas in? I dont know to much about carbs here so help me out I think that is the problem though. I am guessing it must be dirty so maybe clean it out and be fixed?

Sounds like sticking floats. They just need to be worked in until they are smooth. I would recommend taking the top off (or however they are mounted) and move them by hand until they move freely.

remove the carb and air horn and float assemblies. clean the carb bowles and jets. individually remove the air bleeds and clean each one. replace the accelerator pump...who am i kidding.. thats near a full carb rebuild. order the rebuild kit and just rebuild the sucker. you'll be glad tht you did.
