Sticking Choke?

Hi,
The pull out choke on my rx-7 was working right before i put it in storage for winter and when i started it again this spring the choke doesn't seem to be working right.

I can't seem to be able to pull it out much and when i turn the ignition switch off it doesnt pop back in. So i end up having to use starting fluid when it's starting with a cold engine. It almost feels like the choke cable is binding.

What would have caused the choke to go bad after having been in storage and what could i try to fix it?

The car sits outside because i don't have a garage to store it in.

Thanks!

The only thing I can come up with is corrosion on the cable or on the choke plate linkage on the carburetor. But that's just a guess.

No it will not harm anything. You can accomplish the same thing with carb cleaner and it's cheaper.
