Arrow Fuseable Link Size Clues!!!

Well, I was just browsing online on the Schucks.com website loking for what I could get for my car, and happened to fine "Fuseable Links" under the "Batteries and Accessories" section. In this fuseable link section, they have what could be "new" replacements for the old "wire" style links. They are boxes that have female blade connectors, and they look like they would slide into the fusable link box rather than just have a wire (see pics below). Anyway, they have a few different sizes, but unfortunatly, every size they have, I was told at some point was the main or the other two. Like I was told one time that the main was the 120 amp, and the two others were 80 amp, which Schucks has, but on another occasion, I was told the main was 60 amp, and the others 30, which the also carry...AND on another occasion, I was told the main was 30 with the others being 15...As you can see, there is some discrepency as to what size the links truly are. Anyway, I just thought Id share, as no one told me about this in the past when I asked where to get new links .

Nice find! Might have to try and find some of those from somewhere.

As for the sizes, the main should be approximately the max alternator output and the retractors are about a 20 or 30amp I think. One way to find out is to start with a small fuse and work your way up till it doesn't blow any more.

Done beat you guys to it... I think of everything. Ive had them in my 85 for about 2 years..

The headlights and the retractor motors are 30A , the middle one is a 80A (i had a 88 t2 alt) normal fb ones would be like a 60 or 70A, good luck finding one that is a plug in most are screw in ones... I beleive they are called japanese auto links.

I used a 70A instead. Dunno how good thats gonna work with my cosmo 95A alt.

They ARE NOT A DIRECT FIT. You have to file the center of the fuse out a bit, or remove the partition between the old fuse links in the fuse block. Needle nose pliers are handy for this task

Sorry I didnt let you guys in on this a long time ago, but I beleive if it aint broke why mess with it? Unless you really gonna gain from it. I had 2 blown ones, and had trouble finding them at the time, so I nabbed some of the install rack and presto...

Allright, we will forgive this treachery. If you provide pics!

The reason I am interested is because I know I have one that is kind of flakey. I have a 2nd Gen Fuse panel mounted, but have not installed it (yet).

See it all the way on the right side? - On the Driver's strut tower.


I decided on wiring it up after the car is running, as I don't want to screw something up, and then have that much more difficult a time trying to figure out what the problem is. I want to keep it simple for now, and then upgrade the to the fuse panel.

I've tried the Buss Fuses brand of fusible links. The part number for the 30 amp is FLF-30, 60 amp is FLF-60, They do not show larger than 60 amp on the packaging. These should be availible at most auto parts stores.

I pulled the old wire fusable links and popped these in my 79 SA. No modification.

The idea behind switching to FC block is to (1) get rid of the fusible links and (2) Plug-in for additional stuff like amps, alarms, foglight and e-fan to name a few. This way your battery's + terminal wont like a sphagetti.

Yeah.. these are good for stock cars.. I put the FC fuse block in 'cause I needed an extra spot for an e-fan and wanted room for expansion... I do plan to get an alarm at some point.

The FC fuse boxes are the same # of spots regardless of year? What was the number again, 5 slots?

7 slots. GLC's are 5.
