Stereo Stolen! F**K!

When I bought my Rex it had a nice sony stereo already installed. Now all I have is an empty hole with an assortment of wires hanging out. Can anyone give me advice on how to install a new stereo? Do I have to rewire the Clarion amps underneath the storage bins? I could also use advice on what brand of EQ to buy to place int the little storage area directly underneath the stereo. Thanks.

My advice is get a double din deck to take up all the space, either hook up speakers directly to the stereo. Or if you need more power get an amp or too. Don't bother with the factory amps.

Check this out, I've bought two. They work very well.

So you wire from the back of the stereo directly to your speakers? By-pass the amps and all by following the diagram with the installation instructions?

Only reason I ask is I just bought a player and have been reading about having to take the amps out...

I was thinking of getting a double din player, but I figured that they would be really atractive to young idiots who dont know what their doing and tear the dash apart to get to the stereo.

And most double din players dont have a detachable face plate.

Run the new speaker wires from the deck to the rear bins. There are all the wires for all 4 speakers, ready to connect.

Man I am looking at this installation diagram, actually I have been looking for about a week now..."wire 1 goes to metallic body or chassis of the car" "wire 2 goes to a live terminal in the fuse block connecting to the car battery (bypassing the ignition switch" "wire 3 goes to an accessory terminal in the fuse box"

Is there some kind of diagram for the old connections that unplugged from the stock clarion, so I can just solder the wires for all that stuff I listed above? I searched but couldn't find any pictures. I'm a little afraid of this thing, but if its easier than it looks and I can get some tips I might give it a try.

If your car already had an aftermarket deck that was stolen all the wiring should be there for you to hook up to. It shouldn't be to hard to figure out. If you have any questions PM me I in stalled car stereos for a living for 22 years tilll last August and would be glad to help you if I can!!

Well, you are making this look harder than it has to. Wire one is the ground wire. This will allways be black. That one is easy to take care of. Just crimp a male and female connector from wire one to the black wire comming from yor stock wiring.
For the next two wires, the easiest way is to use a test light. Clip one end to the chassis and you are going to use the other end to find out what wires are what.

For wire two, use the test light to find the only wire that will illuminate the light when the cars ignition switch is off. Crimp a male/female connector from this wire to wire two.

For wire three, you are going to have to turn you ignition switch to acc. Now another wire should illuminate when you use the test light. Crimp a male/female connector from this wire to wire three.

As for the speaker wires go, the easiest way I heard is to use a double a battery . You complete the circute to a speaker, and you will hear a crackle from what ever speaker you are connecting to when you contact the battery.

Also, dont take the stupid way out when connecting these wires by just twisting them together and wraping them with electrical tape. This creates a very poor connection, and is dangerous. My firend crashed his car on the freeway because of his bad wiring job to the stereo. Do the job right!
