Ok, my 85 GS i can pull and push the steering wheel about an inch both ways. I already broke a turn signal switch canceling coller once. Why is this doing this ...help pleasr!!!!!!!!

 

There are two little plastic colars embeded on the shaft that lock it into place. Your colars are probaly no longer intact. You can either buy a new steering box (don't know if you can get just the shaft). Or take the shaft out and put RTV or somthing along that lines in the steering collum tube. that the shaft goes in. I RTV'ed mine in and it works great.
