Question Steering wheel adapters that fit right...

You guys have helped me in every which way and I take some of your words as Gospel, so I've got yet another question I need answered before I buy another part related to my suspension/steering/braking upgrades. I've read elsewhere in this forum (yes, I search-quite often for the info I need) that 90-97 Miata steering wheel hub adapters and 2nd gen adapters work for first gens. I believe I'll buy a cheaper steering wheel for my project for the time being, but I'd like to know which ebay adapters will work the best. I've got to pull my wheel for the ReSpeed r&p conversion and would like to know which adapter will work without any slop or gaps between the column shroud and wheel or without any slack or front to back/side to side play. I've seen complaints on here about the Miata adapter being sloppy and have not found an adapter specifically with a wheel that's produced specifially for my '83 column. Most of the ebay specials I've found include a Boss adapter suited for any 6-bolt wheel-with the 2nd gen versions fit safely without play/slop? Momo's part #'s for most all mazda's is 5702, but it may include spacers/adapters to make it a universal fit (I'm not sure either way). What is my best ebay option for around $50 shipped that will end up tight-fitting and look like it was made for an '83? Links would be greatly appreciated if possible. Once again, thanks in advance for your time, help, and cooperation...

I was pretty tired when I wrote this, what I meant to ask if I was a bit hard to understand was this: Has anybody here tried to use a cheap ebay steering wheel/adapter kit for a 2nd gen, and do they fit right without any slop or gaps? I didn't budget it into my mods but I want to swap it out when I modify my column for the ReSpeed Stage II rack & pinion kit. Thanks guys...

best option, is the momo adaptor for the miata. the FC one is actually spaced a little differently.

stay away from the us made ones, the splines arent metric! they work, but if the wheel comes off a couple times, it can damage the splines on the steering column, which is bad

Thanks-I've actually found an NRG and Nardi version made for the FB so I'll step a bit out of my budget for it and a quality wheel that I'll be happier with. I had my sights set on a couple of different ebay specials, but after thinking it over I know I'd be happier with a quality piece that will actually fit right. Both the NRG and the Nardi's are Italian-made and suited specifically for the FB, so I shouldn't have any issues with either of those. I wonder why the MOMO part # is the same for almost all Mazdas when the Nardi version has different applications for SA's and FB's, and different models for about every series of vehicle. The MOMO adapter must come with an assortment of spacers or something similar to make up the difference...

but I have a q......has anyone ever put one on a 79. I know they are slightly different, and i can never seem to get a straight answer from searching if they work. The splines are supposedly slight larger. I desperately need a new steering wheel, but would hate to spend all that money and not be able to use it

Here you go:
http://item.express.ebay.com/ws/eBay...mid=1444786000

or:
http://item.express.ebay.com/ws/eBay...mid=1444780000

Either of these will fit, but the second link is the Nardi version for 7/80-'85 FB's. That same seller has adapters for '79 & '80 model SA's too. The first one is a thin NRG adapter for use with a quick release, or extra room for a fat ***. I want a quick release in the near future so I'll probably opt for the NRG. I can always remove the quick connect and just attach the wheel in case I gain an extra hundred pounds or so too. Be careful if you already have a wheel though, one of those adapters is designed for a 6x2.75" wheel pattern and the other for a 6x2.875". Measure the distance between two holes 180* apart on the wheel if you're unsure...

Yea, awesome, I just ordered that adapter from ebay for the 78-80. First one I've ever seen! Now I'm about to order the Personal Grinta wheel with red stitching. I never really like the red stitching, but this one is really subtle.
