steering column

steering column

The problem is i can move the steering wheel / column back and forward about 2-3 inches is there any way to correct this or do i have to replace the the steering column.

steering column is 2 piece and is held by a clip. pix below.

As above, you could drill out the nylon rivets and replace them with 1/8" aluminum rod mushroomed on the ends.

Or roll pins, "BUUUUUT" keep in mind the nylon is designed to break in the even that you are slammed into the steering wheel by a majors collision thus preventing impalement, so it's up to you on whether you wanna take your chances.....

Aluminum rivets will work, plastic ones if you can find them. Roll pins, no, those are hardened steel.
